Demonstrating our strong background in the retail packaging market, at E2Global, we fast-tracked the design and manufacture of the deodorant bottle shown here. Our client in the health & beauty market wanted to launch a wide-stick option for this brand of deodorant. Still, until they approached us, they had been unsuccessful in finding a solution that satisfied their third-party filling company.
Inside our engineering department, our designers evolved the customer’s initial concept into a 3D CAD model for a visual and functional review. In a matter of only 11 days, we optimized the manufacturability for an injection molding process. We added the necessary tolerances to the dimensions to ensure an accurate fit during the assembly of nine individual pieces. Our design was robust in every critical aspect due to the vague requirements of the third party filler.
Molded from polyurethane on a 100-ton press, the deodorant bottle features overall dimensions of 60 mm x 150 mm. We produce each of the nine pieces of the assembly to ±0.05 mm tolerances, and our production process includes in-line quality control of both the molding and automated assembly processes. The cap features a custom texture, and we print the lid and body with a glossy finish.
Within a 90-day development cycle, we engineered the product, completed the tooling, and delivered the first article. We ramped up to fill a production order of 400,000 units, and to date, have manufactured a total of 2.2 million. Orders are delivered in 30 days. With our economical business model that involves locating our manufacturing facilities in the Pacific Rim, we gave the client an entirely customized solution that was equal in price to an off-the-shelf bottle the client had been considering.
